Tribute to Teachers

Many teachers do not get the respect they deserve. They work long hours at schools and at home to prepare and present information in an engaging yet simple way to facilitate learning. Add to that, sometimes they have to deal with difficult parents on top of everything else! Many parents blame a good teacher for their child’s poor grades, ignoring the fact that the problem might not actually be with the teacher but with their child’s lack of interest in studying. Sometimes, the parents do not play the vital role they should in helping their children become committed and interested students. A lot of times a student’s bad behavior in class is not his fault but his family’s. As one teacher, Louis Johannot, puts it, “The only reason I always try to meet and know the parents better is because it helps me to forgive their children.”

There are countless inspiring and insightful quotes made for teachers and by teachers:

A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.

Henry Brooks Adams

The average teacher explains complexity; the gifted teacher reveals simplicity.

Robert Brault

The only reason I always try to meet and know the parents better is because it helps me to forgive their children.

Louis Johannot

If you promise not to believe everything your child says happens at school, I’ll promise not to believe everything he says happens at home.

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
Albert Einstein

A man should never be ashamed to own he has been wrong, which is but saying in other words that he is wiser today than he was yesterday.
Alexander Pope

whoever neglects learning in his youth, loses the past and is dead to the future.
Euripides

One of my favorite quotes by an unknown author is “Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions”. Many teachers are underappreciated for the hard work they do. They build and develop future generations. It is these generations who become the next politicians, scientists, business leaders and journalists, who change our world either for the better or the worse. So, in essence, teachers play a main role in shaping the future of the world.
