The only way is up!

It’s only natural to hope that you can progress in your career, gaining experience, friends, colleagues and a larger wage packet along the way!  In the area of Book keeping, Accountancy and Payroll Company work, a Business degree will be invaluable.  However, if you are already working as a Bookkeeper with a firm grasp of the skills required, it can be hard to develop your career whilst working full – or even part time.

That’s where part time college (day or evening) might help – or the Open University.  At the “OU” you can gain a BA in Business studies and Accountancy in your own time.  It’s been acknowledged that Book Keeping is a wonderful first step toward a career in Accountancy or Payroll Company work.  Accounting and financial skills are always in great demand – and always will be.  If you decide to take an OU Course you will learn how a Payroll Company operates, how they are managed in the external world.  It will be invaluable to gain an understanding of the organisations in which you might work – and their markets.

Any part time course that you do choose in Book Keeping, Payroll company law or Accountancy must be relevant and up to date.  It should quite clearly take you on a journey from your Book keeping skills to Accountancy.  There will be modules on IT, practical skills, numerical and thinking skills.  You will grow in confidence along the way toward gaining your new qualification.  The result will undoubtedly result in an upward career progression – just as you desired!
