Candidates accepted into the Prince George's County Teaching Fellows will be assigned to teach in a specific subject area. The subject in which Fellows are accepted to teach is based primarily on district need, candidates' teaching eligibility and, when possible, candidates' subject area preferences as stated on their applications.
The process of matching Fellows with specific teaching positions is coordinated through the Teaching Fellows office. Fellows' teaching positions will be determined through a variety of processes including, but not limited to, job fairs and the coordination of interviews between individual schools and Fellows.
We ask Fellows to remember that securing a teaching position is a challenging process and that, due to mobility within the school system, it is often difficult to predict exact teaching assignments until very close to the end of training.
It is the mission of the Fellows program to place Fellows in schools with the highest need for teachers. As a result, all candidates should be prepared to teach wherever they are needed most. Again, Fellows will have the opportunity to express school position preferences, but district hiring is primarily driven by school needs and by each Fellow's qualifications. As a Fellow, you must be prepared to be extremely flexible about your teaching assignment.
