Located in southern Maryland, just east of Washington, DC, Prince George's County offers a combination of close-knit, "livable" communities and big-city opportunities (see the map below). The County is proud of its many types of diversity: cultural and ethnic diversity; environmental and geographic variation; and a combination of rich history and modern living. Prince George's County is comprised of 10 cities and 17 towns, each with its own unique style.
Many candidates residing outside of Prince George's County, and outside of Maryland, pursue the challenging and rewarding opportunity to impact student achievement as a Teaching Fellow. Candidates are not required to be a resident of Prince George's County in order to apply to the program - applicants come from across the country, and Fellows live throughout the DC-metro area.
A "Livable Community"
The Livable Communities Initiative (LCI) was established by the County to ensure that its communities had the resources and structures in place to maintain high standards of physical beauty and environmentally responsible practices. The Initiative also focuses on the health, safety, and educational conditions of the County.
